Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and versatile Registered Nurse (RN) – Operating Room (Circulate/Scrub) to provide comprehensive perioperative nursing care. The RN will function as both a circulating and scrub nurse, ensuring patient safety, maintaining sterile technique, assisting during surgical procedures, and collaborating with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and the surgical team to deliver exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform preoperative patient assessments and verify patient identity, consent, and surgical site.
- Function as both the circulating and scrub nurse during surgical procedures.
- Prepare and maintain sterile fields, surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies.
- Assist surgeons by passing instruments, sutures, and supplies during procedures.
- Monitor patient condition throughout surgery and advocate for patient safety.
- Perform surgical counts of instruments, sponges, needles, and sharps according to policy.
- Assist with patient positioning, skin preparation, specimen handling, and operating room setup.
- Administer medications, IV therapies, and blood products as prescribed.
- Recognize and respond promptly to intraoperative emergencies and changes in patient condition.
- Maintain accurate perioperative documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, surgical technologists, PACU staff, and other healthcare professionals.
- Ensure compliance with AORN standards, infection prevention protocols, HIPAA regulations, patient safety standards, and facility policies.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education activities.
Required Qualifications:
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Graduate of an accredited Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program.
- Current BLS certification required.
- Current ACLS certification required.
- Minimum 1 year of recent Operating Room experience in both circulating and scrub roles preferred.
- Strong knowledge of perioperative nursing, sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, and patient safety practices.
- Excellent communication, critical-thinking, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred.
Pay Rate
$66.57 - $71.44/hour
