Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Operating Room RN to provide safe and efficient perioperative care before, during, and after surgical procedures. The RN will work as a circulator, coordinate surgical activities, maintain patient safety, and collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and the surgical team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform pre-operative assessments and prepare patients for surgery.
- Verify patient identity, procedure, consent, allergies, and surgical site.
- Serve as the circulating RN and maintain a safe, sterile, and efficient operating environment.
- Assist with patient positioning, surgical site preparation, and procedural setup.
- Monitor patient status throughout surgical procedures.
- Maintain accurate counts of instruments, sponges, needles, and other supplies.
- Administer medications and treatments as ordered and within scope of practice.
- Monitor and document vital signs, fluid balance, and patient responses.
- Anticipate surgical team needs and coordinate supplies and equipment.
- Assist with emergency procedures and respond to changes in patient condition.
- Provide appropriate handoff and post-operative care instructions.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the EMR.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, surgical technologists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Follow infection prevention, surgical safety, HIPAA, and organizational policies.
Required Qualifications:
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- ADN or BSN from an accredited nursing program.
- Current BLS certification required.
- Minimum 1 year of recent Operating Room/perioperative nursing experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, sterile technique, patient positioning, and perioperative safety.
- Excellent clinical judgment, communication, organization, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced surgical environment.
- Experience with EMR systems preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- BSN preferred.
- Previous experience as an OR Circulating RN.
- Experience with general, orthopedic, vascular, gynecologic, urologic, or other surgical specialties.
- CNOR certification preferred.
- ACLS certification preferred based on surgical setting.
- Strong knowledge of surgical safety and infection prevention standards.
- Commitment to safe, patient-centered perioperative care.
Pay Rate
$64.28 - $69.16/hour
