Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – Neuro Intensive Care Unit (Neuro ICU) to provide specialized nursing care for critically ill patients with neurological and neurosurgical conditions. The RN will assess patient status, manage advanced life-support therapies, monitor neurological function, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to deliver exceptional critical care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive neurological and critical care assessments
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans
- Monitor neurological status, intracranial pressure (ICP), hemodynamics, and cardiac rhythms
- Administer medications, IV infusions, vasoactive drips, blood products, and other prescribed treatments
- Manage patients requiring mechanical ventilation, external ventricular drains (EVD), and other neurocritical care therapies
- Recognize and respond to changes in neurological condition and medical emergencies
- Operate and monitor critical care equipment, including ventilators, infusion pumps, and invasive monitoring devices
- Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans and recovery
- Collaborate with neurologists, neurosurgeons, intensivists, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals
- Maintain accurate documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention protocols, HIPAA regulations, patient safety standards, and facility policies
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education activities
Required Qualifications:
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
- Graduate of an accredited Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program
- Current BLS certification required
- Current ACLS certification required
- NIH Stroke Scale certification required or obtained per facility policy
- Minimum 2 years of recent Neuro ICU, ICU, or Critical Care nursing experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of neurocritical care, ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring, and neurological assessment
- Excellent communication, critical-thinking, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred
Pay Rate
$58.65 - $73.31/hour
