Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to provide care for patients in a Medical-Surgical/Progressive Care Unit (MSU/PCU). The RN will care for patients requiring acute medical-surgical treatment and intermediate-level monitoring, including telemetry and management of complex conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive assessments and develop individualized nursing care plans.
- Monitor vital signs, cardiac rhythms, oxygenation, neurological status, and hemodynamic changes.
- Provide telemetry monitoring and recognize changes in cardiac rhythms or patient condition.
- Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and prescribed treatments.
- Manage patients requiring oxygen therapy, cardiac monitoring, and other intermediate-level interventions.
- Monitor laboratory and diagnostic results and communicate significant changes to providers.
- Recognize and respond promptly to clinical deterioration and emergencies.
- Provide wound care, catheter care, drain management, and other nursing interventions.
- Assist with admissions, transfers, procedures, and discharge planning.
- Educate patients and families regarding medications, treatment plans, disease management, and discharge instructions.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the EMR.
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
- Follow infection prevention, HIPAA, patient safety, and organizational policies.
Required Qualifications:
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- ADN or BSN from an accredited nursing program.
- Current BLS certification required.
- Current ACLS certification required/preferred based on assignment requirements.
- Minimum 1 year of recent MSU, PCU, Step-Down, Telemetry, or acute-care nursing experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of medical-surgical nursing, telemetry, cardiac monitoring, and intermediate-level patient care.
- Excellent clinical judgment, critical-thinking, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to recognize and respond quickly to changes in patient condition.
- Experience with EMR systems preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- BSN preferred.
- Previous PCU, Step-Down, Telemetry, or acute-care hospital experience.
- Experience caring for cardiac, respiratory, post-surgical, and medically complex patients.
- Experience with telemetry, non-invasive ventilation, IV medications, and high-acuity monitoring.
- ACLS certification preferred.
- Strong teamwork and prioritization skills.
- Commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care.
Pay Rate
$65.04 - $69.92/hour
