Position Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical-Surgical (Med/Surg) to provide comprehensive nursing care for adult patients with acute illnesses, post-operative conditions, and chronic medical needs. The RN will assess patient conditions, administer treatments, coordinate interdisciplinary care, and promote safe, high-quality patient outcomes in a fast-paced acute care environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized nursing care plans.
- Provide direct nursing care to medical and post-surgical patients.
- Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and prescribed treatments.
- Monitor patient conditions, vital signs, laboratory results, and responses to treatment.
- Perform wound care, dressing changes, catheter care, and other nursing procedures.
- Recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient condition and initiate appropriate interventions.
- Coordinate patient admissions, transfers, and discharge planning.
- Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, treatments, and discharge instructions.
- Collaborate with physicians, case managers, therapists, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Maintain accurate documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention protocols, HIPAA regulations, patient safety standards, and facility policies.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education activities.
Required Qualifications:
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Graduate of an accredited Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program.
- Current BLS certification required.
- ACLS certification preferred or required based on facility requirements.
- Minimum 1 year of recent Medical-Surgical nursing experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of acute care nursing, medication administration, patient assessment, wound care, and post-operative care.
- Excellent communication, critical-thinking, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- CMSRN (Certified Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse) or MEDSURG-BC certification preferred.
- Experience in acute care hospitals, telemetry, or post-surgical units.
- Previous travel or contract nursing experience preferred.
- Strong teamwork, adaptability, and commitment to patient-centered care.
- Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and on-call schedules as required.
Pay Rate
$70,000.00 - $104,000.00/year
