A Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical-Surgical (Med-Surg) Unit provides comprehensive care to adult patients recovering from surgery or being treated for acute medical conditions.
Job Description
- Assess, monitor, and document patients' health conditions.
- Administer medications, IV therapy, blood products, and treatments as prescribed.
- Monitor vital signs and respond to changes in patient condition.
- Develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
- Assist patients before and after surgical procedures.
- Perform wound care, dressing changes, and catheter care.
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Educate patients and families about medications, treatments, and discharge instructions.
- Maintain accurate patient records using the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, infection control, and patient safety standards.

- Post-operative patients
- Patients with pneumonia, COPD, diabetes, heart failure, sepsis, kidney disease, and other acute medical conditions
- Adults requiring medical monitoring and treatment

Med-Surg nurses often care for 4–6 patients per shift (depending on the facility and staffing ratios) and are expected to manage a wide variety of medical conditions while coordinating care with the interdisciplinary team.
Pay Rate
$56.66 - $61.53/hour
