RN – Medical Step-Down
Provide specialized nursing care to patients requiring closer monitoring than a general medical-surgical unit. The Medical Step-Down RN will monitor complex medical conditions, administer treatments, recognize changes in patient status, and collaborate with the healthcare team.
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive assessments and closely monitor patient conditions.
- Monitor vital signs, cardiac rhythms, oxygenation, and other clinical parameters.
- Administer medications, IV therapy, and prescribed treatments.
- Manage patients requiring telemetry, oxygen therapy, and increased clinical monitoring.
- Recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient condition.
- Provide wound care and other nursing interventions as needed.
- Educate patients and families regarding treatment, medications, and discharge needs.
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
- Follow infection control, safety, and nursing standards.
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Previous step-down, progressive care, telemetry, ICU, or medical-surgical experience preferred.
- Strong cardiac monitoring, assessment, and critical-thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple complex patients in a fast-paced environment.
Pay Rate
$56.66 - $61.53/hour
