Position Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) to provide exceptional nursing care to mothers and newborns throughout labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period. The RN will monitor maternal and fetal well-being, assist during deliveries, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure safe, high-quality, family-centered care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for laboring mothers and newborns.
- Monitor maternal and fetal status using fetal heart monitoring and other assessment tools.
- Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and other prescribed treatments.
- Assist physicians and certified nurse midwives during vaginal deliveries and cesarean sections.
- Recognize and respond promptly to maternal, fetal, and neonatal emergencies.
- Provide immediate newborn care and support maternal recovery following delivery.
- Educate patients and families regarding labor, childbirth, breastfeeding, newborn care, postpartum recovery, and discharge instructions.
- Maintain accurate documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesiologists, pediatricians, lactation consultants, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention protocols, HIPAA regulations, patient safety standards, and facility policies.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education activities.
Required Qualifications:
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Graduate of an accredited Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program.
- Current BLS certification required.
- Current ACLS certification required.
- Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required.
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification preferred or required based on facility requirements.
- Minimum 1 year of recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of obstetric nursing, fetal monitoring, maternal assessment, labor management, and newborn care.
- Excellent communication, critical-thinking, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred.
Pay Rate
$81.81 - $86.69/hour
