Position Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – Labor & Delivery (L&D) to provide specialized nursing care to women throughout labor, delivery, recovery, and the immediate postpartum period. The L&D RN will monitor maternal and fetal well-being, assist during deliveries, provide patient education, and collaborate with obstetricians, midwives, anesthesiologists, and neonatal teams to ensure safe, high-quality care for both mother and newborn.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess, monitor, and provide nursing care to antepartum, intrapartum, and immediate postpartum patients
- Monitor maternal and fetal status using fetal heart monitoring and other assessment tools
- Administer medications, IV fluids, blood products, and prescribed treatments
- Assist physicians, certified nurse midwives, and surgical teams during vaginal and cesarean deliveries
- Recognize and respond promptly to obstetric emergencies and changes in maternal or fetal condition
- Provide emotional support, education, and guidance to patients and their families throughout the birthing process
- Care for newborns during the immediate post-delivery period as appropriate
- Coordinate patient admissions, transfers, and discharge planning
- Maintain accurate documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
- Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesiologists, neonatal teams, lactation consultants, and other healthcare professionals
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention protocols, HIPAA regulations, patient safety standards, and facility policies
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education activities
Required Qualifications:
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
- Graduate of an accredited Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program
- Current BLS certification required
- Current ACLS certification required
- Current NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required
- Fetal Monitoring certification or demonstrated competency preferred
- Minimum 1–2 years of recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of obstetric nursing, maternal-fetal assessment, labor management, and neonatal care
- Excellent communication, critical-thinking, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification preferred
- Experience in high-risk obstetrics and cesarean section procedures
- Previous travel or contract nursing experience preferred
- Experience with postpartum recovery and newborn stabilization
- Strong teamwork, adaptability, and ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced labor and delivery environment
Pay Rate
$81.81 - $86.69/hour
