Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) assigned to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) provides comprehensive, high-quality nursing care to critically ill patients requiring continuous monitoring and advanced clinical intervention. The RN utilizes critical thinking, evidence-based practice, and interdisciplinary collaboration to ensure safe, effective, and compassionate patient care in a high-acuity environment.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum of two (2) years of recent ICU or Critical Care experience

  • Strong proficiency in hemodynamic monitoring, cardiac rhythm interpretation, and ventilator management

  • Experience managing patients receiving vasoactive drips, sedation, and pain management

  • Demonstrated ability to rapidly assess and respond to changes in patient condition

  • Strong knowledge of emergency response and critical care protocols

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Experience with advanced ICU equipment (e.g., CRRT, arterial lines, central lines)

  • Prior experience in a high-volume or tertiary-care ICU setting

Required Education

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN or ADN) from an accredited nursing program

Preferred Education

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Required Certifications & Licensure

  • Active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) License

  • Primary Source Verification of RN license and registration through the New York State Department of Education (NYSED)

  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS)

  • American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)

Preferred Certifications & Licensure

  • Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care to critically ill ICU patients in accordance with established standards of practice

  • Continuously assess, monitor, and document patient status, including vital signs, neurological status, and hemodynamic parameters

  • Manage and titrate vasoactive medications, sedation, and analgesia as prescribed

  • Operate and monitor ventilators and other life-support equipment

  • Recognize and respond promptly to life-threatening conditions and emergencies

  • Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and the interdisciplinary care team to develop and implement patient care plans

  • Maintain accurate, timely, and complete clinical documentation in the electronic medical record

  • Adhere to infection control, patient safety, and regulatory standards

  • Provide education and emotional support to patients and families

  • Candidates must meet all licensure and certification requirements prior to assignment

  • ICU experience must be recent and verifiable

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment is essential

Pay Rate
$74.96 - $79.84/hour
