Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – GI/Endoscopy to provide specialized nursing care for patients undergoing gastrointestinal and endoscopic procedures. The RN will prepare patients, assist during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, monitor patient recovery, and collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure safe, high-quality care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform pre-procedure patient assessments and review medical history, medications, and laboratory results
- Prepare patients for GI and endoscopic procedures, including colonoscopies, upper endoscopies (EGD), and other diagnostic or therapeutic interventions
- Administer medications, IV therapies, and moderate sedation as ordered and monitor patient response
- Assist physicians during endoscopic procedures while maintaining patient safety and comfort
- Continuously monitor patient vital signs and respond promptly to changes in condition
- Provide post-procedure recovery care, patient education, and discharge instructions
- Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Collaborate with physicians, anesthesia providers, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention, patient safety, and endoscopy standards
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and on-call coverage as required
Required Qualifications:
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ASN or BSN preferred)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred or as required by the facility
- Minimum 1 year of recent GI, Endoscopy, or procedural nursing experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of endoscopic procedures, moderate sedation, and patient monitoring
- Excellent communication, critical-thinking, and organizational skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced procedural environment
Pay Rate
$68.09 - $72.97/hour
