Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced CVOR Registered Nurse to provide specialized perioperative care for patients undergoing cardiovascular and cardiothoracic surgical procedures. The RN will support surgical teams before, during, and after procedures while maintaining strict patient safety, sterile technique, and cardiovascular surgical standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative nursing care for cardiovascular surgery patients.
- Prepare the operating room, equipment, instruments, and supplies for cardiac and vascular procedures.
- Verify patient identity, surgical procedure, consent, allergies, and required documentation.
- Assist with cardiac and vascular surgical procedures while maintaining sterile technique.
- Perform circulating or scrub duties based on experience, training, and assignment requirements.
- Monitor patient condition and communicate changes promptly to the surgical team.
- Assist with procedures such as CABG, valve repair/replacement, aortic surgery, and other cardiovascular procedures.
- Anticipate the needs of surgeons, anesthesia providers, perfusionists, and other members of the surgical team.
- Maintain accurate counts of instruments, needles, sponges, and other surgical items.
- Ensure appropriate handling and documentation of specimens.
- Assist with patient positioning, surgical site preparation, and transfer to postoperative care.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the EMR and perioperative systems.
- Follow infection prevention, sterile technique, HIPAA, surgical safety, and organizational policies.
- Participate in emergency cardiovascular procedures and on-call coverage as required.
Required Qualifications:
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- ADN or BSN from an accredited nursing program.
- Current BLS certification required.
- Current ACLS certification required.
- Minimum 1–2 years of recent CVOR or cardiovascular surgical nursing experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of cardiovascular surgical procedures and perioperative nursing practices.
- Excellent clinical judgment, critical-thinking, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a high-acuity surgical environment.
- Experience with EMR/perioperative documentation systems preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- BSN preferred.
- Previous experience in a cardiovascular or cardiothoracic operating room.
- Experience with CABG, valve procedures, aortic surgery, vascular surgery, and other open-heart procedures.
- Experience as a CVOR Circulator and/or Scrub RN preferred.
- CNOR certification preferred.
- Strong knowledge of surgical instrumentation, sterile technique, and cardiovascular procedures.
- Ability to participate in on-call, weekend, and holiday coverage as required.

Pay Rate
$66.40 - $71.28/hour
