Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) to provide specialized perioperative nursing care for cardiovascular and thoracic surgical procedures. The CVOR RN will coordinate patient care, maintain a sterile surgical environment, assist during complex cardiac procedures, and collaborate with the surgical team to ensure safe, high-quality patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide perioperative nursing care for cardiovascular and thoracic surgical procedures
- Perform preoperative patient assessments and verify surgical consent, site, and procedure
- Prepare the operating room with specialized cardiovascular equipment, instruments, and supplies
- Maintain a sterile environment and ensure adherence to aseptic techniques throughout procedures
- Circulate during open-heart, vascular, and other cardiovascular surgeries while monitoring patient safety
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, perfusionists, surgical technologists, and the interdisciplinary team
- Monitor patient condition throughout surgery and respond promptly to changes
- Document perioperative care accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention, patient safety, and regulatory standards
- Participate in on-call coverage for emergency cardiovascular surgical procedures as required
Required Qualifications:
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ASN or BSN preferred)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications
- Minimum 1 year of recent CVOR or cardiovascular operating room nursing experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of cardiovascular surgical procedures, sterile technique, and perioperative nursing practices
- Excellent critical-thinking, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to work effectively in a high-acuity surgical environment
Pay Rate
$80.28 - $85.16/hour
