Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) nursing to provide specialized perioperative care for patients undergoing complex cardiac and vascular surgical procedures. The CVOR RN will support surgical teams by preparing patients, coordinating intraoperative care, assisting with surgical procedures, and ensuring patient safety throughout the perioperative process. This role requires strong critical thinking, cardiovascular knowledge, and the ability to work effectively in a high-acuity surgical environment.


Key Responsibilities:

• Provide specialized nursing care for patients undergoing cardiovascular and thoracic surgical procedures
• Perform preoperative assessments and prepare patients for CVOR procedures
• Assist with patient positioning, surgical preparation, and maintaining a safe operating environment
• Coordinate care with surgeons, anesthesiologists, perfusionists, surgical technologists, and interdisciplinary teams
• Maintain sterile technique and adhere to infection prevention standards
• Monitor patient status and respond to changes during surgical procedures
• Assist with cardiopulmonary bypass procedures and advanced cardiac surgery cases as required
• Manage surgical equipment, supplies, medications, and instrumentation according to facility protocols
• Ensure accurate documentation of intraoperative care and patient information
• Participate in surgical counts, safety checks, and compliance with surgical time-out procedures
• Provide emergency support during complex cardiovascular cases
• Support post-operative transition of care and communication with recovery teams


Required Qualifications:

• Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN preferred)
• Minimum 2 years of recent CVOR, OR, or cardiovascular nursing experience preferred
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Strong knowledge of cardiac surgery procedures, sterile technique, and perioperative nursing practices
• Experience with open-heart procedures, vascular surgery, and complex surgical cases preferred
• Excellent clinical judgment, communication, and critical thinking skills
• Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, high-acuity surgical environment
• Experience with electronic medical record (EMR) and surgical documentation systems preferred

Pay Rate
$58.56 - $63.43/hour
