Common diagnosis/Types of patients: Stroke / acute ischemic stroke, Intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH), Subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), Subdural hematoma (SDH), Brain tumors, Cerebral edema / increased intracranial pressure (ICP), Hydrocephalus, Acute respiratory failure, Sepsis / septic shock, Pneumonia, ARDS (acute respiratory distress syndrome), COPD exacerbation, Asthma exacerbation, Acute heart failure / pulmonary edema, Acute kidney injury (AKI), Diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), Hyperosmolar hyperglycemic state (HHS), Gastrointestinal bleeding, Acute liver failure, Severe electrolyte abnormalities
Titrate Drips? Yes
Common titratable &/or set rate drips - Norepinephrine (Levophed) – titratable, Epinephrine – titratable, Vasopressin – typically set rate*** Phenylephrine (Neo-Synephrine) – titratable, Dopamine – titratable
Clin techs on unit? Two clinical techs for 16 patients
RT Equipment: Mechanical ventilator, High-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), Noninvasive ventilation (BiPAP/CPAP)
Are there tele/monitor techs on the units? No
Are RNs required to read their own strips? Yes

Holiday requirement: 1 major and 1 minor holiday per year (Major: Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve/New Years Day, Thanksgiving Day/Day after) (Minor: Labor Day, 4th of July, Memorial Day)
