Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) – Ambulatory Surgery to provide high-quality perioperative nursing care in an outpatient surgical setting. The Ambulatory Surgery RN will support patients throughout the surgical experience, including pre-operative preparation, intraoperative coordination, recovery, and discharge education. This role requires strong clinical judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe and efficient patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide nursing care to patients undergoing outpatient surgical procedures
• Perform pre-operative assessments, review medical history, and prepare patients for surgery
• Verify patient identity, surgical procedures, consent forms, and required documentation
• Monitor patient condition before, during, and after surgical procedures as assigned
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments according to physician orders and facility protocols
• Assist with patient preparation, positioning, and safety measures during surgical care
• Provide post-anesthesia care, monitor recovery progress, and identify potential complications
• Assess vital signs, pain levels, and patient responses to interventions
• Provide discharge education regarding medications, wound care, activity restrictions, and follow-up instructions
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, surgical technologists, and healthcare teams
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in electronic medical records (EMR)
• Follow infection prevention practices, sterile technique guidelines, and patient safety standards
• Participate in emergency response activities and clinical interventions as needed
• Promote a positive patient experience through compassionate and effective communication
Required Qualifications:
• Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN preferred)
• Current BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required/preferred based on facility requirements
• Minimum 1–2 years of recent perioperative, ambulatory surgery, PACU, or surgical nursing experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, patient monitoring, and perioperative nursing practices
• Excellent clinical assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced outpatient surgical environment
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety
• Experience with electronic medical record (EMR) systems preferred
Pay Rate
$75.49 - $80.37/hour
