Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist (RT) to provide comprehensive respiratory care to patients with acute and chronic cardiopulmonary conditions. The Respiratory Therapist will assess respiratory status, administer therapeutic treatments, manage ventilators, perform diagnostic testing, and collaborate with the healthcare team to deliver safe, high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess, monitor, and evaluate patients with respiratory and cardiopulmonary disorders
- Administer oxygen therapy, aerosol medications, nebulizer treatments, and other respiratory therapies
- Initiate, monitor, and manage mechanical and non-invasive ventilation
- Perform arterial blood gas (ABG) sampling and assist with pulmonary function testing as appropriate
- Respond to respiratory emergencies, rapid response events, and code blue situations
- Assist with airway management, intubation, extubation, and bronchoscopy procedures
- Monitor patient response to therapy and recommend treatment modifications when appropriate
- Educate patients and families on respiratory conditions, medications, treatments, and home respiratory equipment
- Maintain accurate documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care
- Follow infection prevention protocols, HIPAA regulations, patient safety standards, and facility policies
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education activities
Required Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
- Active Respiratory Therapist license in the state of practice
- Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential as required by state or facility
- Current BLS certification required
- ACLS certification required or preferred based on facility requirements
- PALS and NRP certifications preferred for facilities caring for pediatric or neonatal patients
- Minimum 1 year of recent respiratory therapy experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of ventilator management, airway care, respiratory assessment, and critical care procedures
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred
- Excellent communication, critical-thinking, and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in acute care, ICU, Emergency Department, NICU, PICU, or long-term acute care settings
- Previous travel or contract respiratory therapy experience preferred
- Experience with advanced ventilator management and critical care procedures
- Strong teamwork, adaptability, and ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment
- Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and on-call schedules as required
Pay Rate
$46.60 - $51.48/hour
