Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Respiratory Therapist (RT) to provide respiratory care services to patients with cardiopulmonary disorders and respiratory conditions. The Respiratory Therapist will assess patients, administer respiratory treatments, manage life-support equipment, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to deliver safe, effective, and patient-centered care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess, treat, and monitor patients with acute and chronic respiratory conditions
- Administer respiratory therapies, including oxygen therapy, aerosol treatments, and inhaled medications
- Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot mechanical ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, and other respiratory support equipment
- Perform arterial blood gas (ABG) sampling and analyze results to guide patient care
- Conduct pulmonary function testing and other diagnostic respiratory procedures as required
- Assist with airway management, intubation support, and emergency respiratory interventions
- Monitor patient response to treatment and communicate changes to physicians and the healthcare team
- Educate patients and families on respiratory conditions, treatment plans, medications, breathing techniques, and home respiratory equipment
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention protocols, patient safety standards, and respiratory care policies
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education activities
Required Qualifications:
- Active, unrestricted Respiratory Therapist license in the state of practice (where required)
- Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required; Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) accepted where applicable
- Current BLS/CPR certification required
- ACLS certification required or obtained within facility guidelines
- NRP and PALS certifications preferred or required based on assignment
- Minimum 1 year of recent Respiratory Therapist experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of respiratory care principles, ventilator management, airway management, and critical care practices
- Excellent communication, critical-thinking, organizational, and patient care skills
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred
