Respiratory Therapist (RT)
Position Summary
Provide respiratory care to patients with breathing and cardiopulmonary conditions. Assess respiratory status, administer treatments, operate respiratory equipment, and support patients in achieving stable and effective breathing.
Responsibilities
- Assess and monitor patients’ respiratory status and oxygen needs.
- Administer respiratory treatments, medications, and oxygen therapy as prescribed.
- Perform respiratory therapy procedures, including nebulizer treatments and airway management.
- Operate and monitor ventilators and other respiratory equipment.
- Assist with emergency airway management and cardiopulmonary resuscitation as needed.
- Collect and analyze arterial blood gases and other respiratory data.
- Educate patients and families on respiratory care, treatments, and equipment.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
- Follow infection-control, patient safety, and respiratory care standards.
Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited program.
- Current and active Respiratory Therapist license in the applicable state.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential preferred or required as applicable.
- BLS certification required; ACLS and other certifications preferred or as applicable.
- Previous respiratory therapy or acute care experience preferred.
- Strong clinical, communication, assessment, and patient-care skills.
Pay Rate
$55.89 - $60.77/hour
