Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse (RN) – Neuro ICU to provide specialized, high-quality care for critically ill patients with neurological and neurosurgical conditions. The Neuro ICU RN will assess, monitor, and treat patients with complex neurological disorders while collaborating with physicians and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to deliver exceptional patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive nursing care for critically ill neurological and neurosurgical patients.
- Perform detailed neurological assessments, including Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) evaluations and neurovascular monitoring.
- Monitor hemodynamic status, intracranial pressure (ICP), ventilators, and other critical care equipment.
- Administer medications, IV therapies, vasoactive drips, blood products, and treatments as prescribed.
- Recognize and respond promptly to neurological emergencies and changes in patient condition.
- Assist with bedside procedures and post-operative care for neurosurgical patients.
- Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, recovery, and discharge planning.
- Maintain accurate documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Collaborate with neurologists, neurosurgeons, intensivists, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention protocols, HIPAA regulations, patient safety standards, and facility policies.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education activities.
Required Qualifications:
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Graduate of an accredited Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program.
- Current BLS certification required.
- Current ACLS certification required.
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required or obtained within facility guidelines.
- Minimum 2 years of recent Neuro ICU, ICU, Critical Care, or Neurosurgical ICU experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of neurological disorders, critical care nursing, ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring, and emergency response.
- Excellent communication, critical-thinking, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- CCRN (Critical Care Registered Nurse) certification preferred.
- Experience caring for patients with stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, seizures, intracranial hemorrhage, and post-neurosurgical conditions.
- Previous travel or contract nursing experience preferred.
- Strong teamwork, adaptability, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced critical care environment.
Pay Rate
$58.11 - $62.99/hour
