Job Description – Registered Nurse (RN) | Medical-Surgical (Med-Surg)
Position Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical-Surgical provides direct, compassionate, and evidence-based nursing care to adult patients with acute medical conditions, post-operative needs, and chronic illnesses. The RN is responsible for assessing patients, administering medications and treatments, monitoring patient progress, coordinating care, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to promote positive patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized nursing care plans.
- Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and prescribed treatments safely and accurately.
- Monitor vital signs, laboratory results, and patient responses to treatment.
- Provide pre-operative and post-operative nursing care.
- Educate patients and families on diagnoses, medications, procedures, and discharge planning.
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and medical emergencies.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, infection prevention protocols, and patient safety standards.
- Support a positive, patient-centered environment while advocating for quality care.
Minimum Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Current BLS Certification (AHA required).
- ACLS Certification (preferred, depending on facility requirements).
- Minimum 1–2 years of recent Medical-Surgical nursing experience preferred.
- Strong critical thinking, communication, and organizational skills.
Pay Rate
$47.07 - $51.95/hour
