RN Step Down – Job Description

A Step Down RN (Progressive Care RN) provides care to patients who require closer monitoring than a Med/Surg patient but do not need full ICU-level care.

Key Responsibilities:

Monitor patients' vital signs, cardiac rhythms, oxygen levels, and overall condition.
Perform comprehensive patient assessments and identify changes in condition.
Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments as ordered.
Care for patients with cardiac, respiratory, neurological, and post-surgical conditions.
Monitor telemetry and respond promptly to changes in patient status.
Assist with procedures and emergency interventions when needed.
Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans.
Educate patients and families regarding treatment and recovery.
Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
Maintain accurate patient documentation in the EMR.
Follow hospital safety, infection-control, and clinical policies.

Pay Rate
$49.49 - $54.37/hour
