Position Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Registered Nurse (RN) – Operating Room (OR) to provide perioperative nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures. The OR RN will prepare patients and operating rooms, assist the surgical team during procedures, maintain a sterile environment, and ensure safe, high-quality, patient-centered care throughout the surgical process.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess patients before surgery and develop individualized perioperative nursing care plans
  • Prepare operating rooms, surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment for procedures
  • Verify patient identity, surgical site, and procedure according to established safety protocols
  • Assist surgeons, anesthesiologists, and surgical technologists during operative procedures
  • Maintain a sterile surgical environment and adhere to aseptic techniques
  • Administer medications, IV fluids, blood products, and treatments as prescribed
  • Monitor patient condition throughout surgery and respond promptly to changes
  • Perform surgical counts and ensure proper handling of specimens
  • Document perioperative care accurately in Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
  • Educate patients and families regarding surgical procedures, recovery, and post-operative care
  • Ensure compliance with infection prevention protocols, HIPAA regulations, patient safety standards, and facility policies
  • Participate in emergency procedures, quality improvement initiatives, and on-call coverage as required

Required Qualifications:

  • Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
  • Graduate of an accredited Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program
  • Current BLS certification required
  • ACLS certification preferred or required based on assignment
  • Minimum 1 year of recent Operating Room (OR) nursing experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of perioperative nursing, sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, and patient safety practices
  • Excellent communication, critical-thinking, organizational, and teamwork skills
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced surgical environment
