Registered Echo Technician / Sonographer

A Registered Echo Technician (also called a Registered Cardiac Sonographer) is a healthcare professional who performs echocardiograms (cardiac ultrasound tests) to assess heart structure and function.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform transthoracic and/or transesophageal echocardiograms

• Capture high-quality cardiac ultrasound images

• Assist with stress echocardiography testing

• Analyze cardiac measurements and preliminary findings

• Ensure patient safety and comfort during procedures

• Maintain equipment and accurate documentation

Common Credentials:

• RDCS (Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer) – issued by ARDMS

• RCS (Registered Cardiac Sonographer) – issued by CCI

Work Settings:

• Hospitals

• Cardiology clinics

• Outpatient diagnostic centers

• Imaging centers

Pay Rate
$63.70 - $68.58/hour
