Job Description – X-Ray Technologist (Radiologic Technologist)

An X-Ray Technologist is responsible for performing diagnostic imaging procedures to help physicians diagnose and treat injuries and medical conditions.

Key Responsibilities

Perform diagnostic X-ray examinations as ordered by physicians.
Position patients correctly to obtain high-quality images.
Explain imaging procedures and ensure patient comfort and safety.
Operate and maintain X-ray equipment according to safety standards.
Follow radiation safety protocols to minimize exposure for patients and staff.
Verify patient identity and imaging orders before each procedure.
Review images for quality and repeat scans if necessary.
Maintain accurate patient records and document procedures in the EMR/PACS system.
Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
Ensure imaging rooms and equipment are clean, stocked, and functioning properly.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program
Current state Radiologic Technologist license (if required)
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Certification (R.T. (R))
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (facility dependent)

X-Ray Technologists play a vital role in diagnosing fractures, infections, lung diseases, joint conditions, and other medical issues by producing clear, accurate diagnostic images while ensuring patient safety and comfort.

Pay Rate
$57.74 - $62.61/hour
