Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) – Progressive Care Unit (PCU) to provide specialized nursing care for patients requiring close monitoring and advanced medical care. The PCU RN will assess patient conditions, administer treatments, monitor cardiac and respiratory status, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized nursing care plans
- Monitor patients with complex medical conditions requiring continuous cardiac and respiratory observation
- Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and prescribed treatments
- Interpret cardiac rhythms and promptly respond to changes in patient condition
- Care for patients requiring telemetry monitoring, oxygen therapy, and other advanced interventions
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals
- Educate patients and families on diagnoses, medications, treatment plans, and discharge instructions
- Maintain accurate documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
- Respond effectively to medical emergencies and rapid response situations
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention protocols, HIPAA regulations, patient safety standards, and facility policies
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education activities
Required Qualifications:
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
- Graduate of an accredited Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program
- Current BLS certification required
- ACLS certification required
- Minimum 1 year of recent Progressive Care Unit (PCU), Step-Down, Telemetry, or Acute Care nursing experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of cardiac monitoring, telemetry interpretation, respiratory care, and critical patient assessment
- Excellent communication, critical-thinking, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred
Preferred Qualifications:
- BSN preferred
- Experience caring for patients with cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, or post-surgical conditions
- Previous travel or contract nursing experience preferred
- NIH Stroke Scale certification preferred where applicable
- Strong teamwork, adaptability, and patient education skills
- Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and on-call schedules as required
Pay Rate
$51.32 - $56.20/hour
