Position Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to provide rehabilitative care under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist. The PTA will implement treatment plans, assist patients in improving mobility, strength, balance, and functional independence, and support recovery from injury, illness, or surgery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement individualized treatment plans developed by the supervising Physical Therapist.
- Provide therapeutic exercises, gait training, balance training, transfer training, and functional mobility interventions.
- Assist patients in improving strength, flexibility, endurance, coordination, and overall mobility.
- Monitor patient progress and communicate changes to the supervising Physical Therapist.
- Educate patients and caregivers on home exercise programs, safe mobility techniques, and injury prevention.
- Train patients in the proper use of assistive devices, orthotics, prosthetics, and adaptive equipment.
- Maintain accurate treatment documentation, progress notes, and patient records in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Assist with discharge planning and continuity of patient care.
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention protocols, HIPAA regulations, patient safety standards, and facility policies.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education activities.
Required Qualifications:
- Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
- Active Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) license in the state of practice.
- Current BLS certification required.
- Minimum 1 year of recent Physical Therapist Assistant experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of rehabilitation techniques, therapeutic exercise, patient mobility, and functional restoration.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, outpatient therapy, skilled nursing facilities (SNF), home health, or long-term care settings.
- Previous travel or contract therapy experience preferred.
- Experience treating orthopedic, neurological, geriatric, post-surgical, and medically complex patients.
- Strong teamwork, adaptability, and commitment to delivering patient-centered care.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple patients in a fast-paced rehabilitation environment.
Pay Rate
$29.98 - $34.86/hour
