Phlebotomist
Position Summary
Perform blood collection and specimen processing while providing safe, accurate, and compassionate patient care. Ensure specimens are properly identified, handled, labeled, and prepared for laboratory testing.
Responsibilities
- Collect blood and other specimens using appropriate techniques.
- Verify patient identity and specimen information before collection.
- Prepare patients and explain collection procedures.
- Properly label, process, and transport specimens.
- Follow infection-control and safety procedures during specimen collection.
- Maintain accurate collection and laboratory documentation.
- Monitor patients for discomfort or adverse reactions during and after collection.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas and equipment.
- Communicate effectively with patients, laboratory staff, and healthcare professionals.
- Follow established laboratory and patient-safety standards.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an approved Phlebotomy training program preferred.
- Current phlebotomy certification or state-required registration, as applicable.
- Previous phlebotomy or healthcare experience preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and patient-care skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Pay Rate
$31.50 - $36.38/hour
