Phlebotomist

Position Summary

Perform blood collection and specimen processing while providing safe, accurate, and compassionate patient care. Ensure specimens are properly identified, handled, labeled, and prepared for laboratory testing.

Responsibilities

  • Collect blood and other specimens using appropriate techniques.
  • Verify patient identity and specimen information before collection.
  • Prepare patients and explain collection procedures.
  • Properly label, process, and transport specimens.
  • Follow infection-control and safety procedures during specimen collection.
  • Maintain accurate collection and laboratory documentation.
  • Monitor patients for discomfort or adverse reactions during and after collection.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas and equipment.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, laboratory staff, and healthcare professionals.
  • Follow established laboratory and patient-safety standards.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of an approved Phlebotomy training program preferred.
  • Current phlebotomy certification or state-required registration, as applicable.
  • Previous phlebotomy or healthcare experience preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and patient-care skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Pay Rate
$31.50 - $36.38/hour
