Position Summary:
We are seeking a knowledgeable and patient-focused Outpatient Pharmacist to provide pharmaceutical care in an outpatient pharmacy setting. The Pharmacist will accurately dispense medications, counsel patients, ensure medication safety, collaborate with healthcare providers, and promote optimal therapeutic outcomes through high-quality pharmacy services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review, verify, and accurately dispense prescription medications in accordance with physician orders and regulatory requirements
- Evaluate prescriptions for appropriateness, drug interactions, allergies, contraindications, and dosing accuracy
- Counsel patients on medication use, side effects, storage, adherence, and disease management
- Provide immunizations and other clinical pharmacy services as permitted by state regulations
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize medication therapy
- Monitor patient medication profiles and resolve medication-related issues
- Supervise and support pharmacy technicians and ancillary staff
- Maintain accurate documentation in the pharmacy management system and Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
- Ensure compliance with state and federal pharmacy regulations, HIPAA, USP standards, and facility policies
- Manage inventory, controlled substances, medication storage, and expiration monitoring
- Participate in medication safety initiatives, quality improvement activities, and continuing education
Required Qualifications:
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited program
- Active, unrestricted Pharmacist license in the state of practice
- Minimum 1 year of recent outpatient or retail pharmacy experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of pharmacotherapy, medication safety, pharmacy law, and patient counseling
- Experience with pharmacy management software and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to accurately prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in outpatient hospital pharmacy, ambulatory care, retail pharmacy, or specialty pharmacy
- Immunization certification and experience administering vaccines
- Board certification (BCPS, BCACP, or other specialty certification) preferred
- Previous travel or contract pharmacy experience preferred
- Experience with medication therapy management (MTM) and chronic disease management
- Strong commitment to patient-centered care and interdisciplinary collaboration
Pay Rate
$83.09 - $87.97/hour
