Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Pre-Op/PACU Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive care to patients before and after surgical procedures. The RN will prepare patients for surgery, monitor recovery from anesthesia, manage pain and nausea, assess for complications, and ensure safe transitions to the next level of care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform pre-operative assessments, including medical history, vital signs, allergies, medications, and surgical readiness.
- Prepare patients for surgical procedures and verify required documentation and orders.
- Establish IV access and administer prescribed medications and fluids.
- Monitor patients in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) following anesthesia and surgical procedures.
- Assess airway, breathing, circulation, neurological status, pain, and level of consciousness.
- Monitor vital signs and recognize early signs of complications.
- Manage post-operative pain, nausea, and other symptoms according to orders and protocols.
- Administer medications, IV therapies, and other prescribed treatments.
- Assist anesthesia and surgical teams during patient care and recovery.
- Provide discharge instructions and educate patients and caregivers regarding post-operative care.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the EMR.
- Communicate patient status and handoff information to the appropriate care team.
- Follow infection prevention, HIPAA, patient safety, and perioperative protocols.
Required Qualifications:
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- ADN or BSN from an accredited nursing program.
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required.
- Minimum 1 year of recent Pre-Op, PACU, perioperative, or critical care nursing experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of post-anesthesia assessment, airway management, pain management, and patient monitoring.
- Excellent clinical judgment, communication, critical-thinking, and organizational skills.
- Experience with EMR systems preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- BSN preferred.
- Previous PACU or ambulatory surgery experience preferred.
- Experience with moderate/deep sedation and post-anesthesia recovery.
- PALS certification preferred for applicable patient populations.
- CPAN or CAPA certification preferred.
- Ability to respond quickly to changes in patient condition.

Pay Rate
$65.17 - $70.05/hour
