Patient Care Technician (PCT)

Position Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and dependable Patient Care Technician (PCT) to provide quality care and support to residents in a long-term care/extended care setting. The Patient Care Technician (PCT) will work under the direction of the RN on duty and Director of Nursing (DON) and provide care within the scope of certification, training, and applicable regulations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide ADL care, including oral care, grooming, personal hygiene, dressing, bathing, range of motion, ambulation, and dining assistance.
  • Provide care according to each resident’s individualized care plan.
  • Respect residents’ dignity, privacy, rights, preferences, and independence.
  • Respond promptly to resident call lights.
  • Observe and report changes in residents’ conditions to the staff nurse in a timely manner.
  • Complete required charting and documentation according to facility policies and procedures.
  • Communicate resident needs, preferences, and concerns with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Assist residents with activities and encourage participation based on their interests and abilities.
  • Maintain cleanliness of wheelchairs and other adaptive equipment.
  • Report damaged, unsafe, or non-working equipment and facility fixtures to maintenance.
  • Properly use required safety equipment, including gait belts, goggles, lifts, and transfer boards.
  • Demonstrate kindness, compassion, professionalism, and attention to detail while providing resident care.
  • Support the facility’s quality improvement initiatives, mission, vision, and core values.

Required Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a CNA in an extended care or long-term care (LTC) setting.
  • Ability to read and write sufficiently to complete required documentation.
  • Active CNA certification in the state of practice.
  • Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).

Pay Rate
$37.37 - $42.25/hour
