Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced PACU Registered Nurse to provide specialized post-anesthesia care to patients recovering from surgical and procedural interventions. The RN will monitor patients closely, manage pain and nausea, assess airway and vital signs, identify complications, and ensure safe recovery and transfer.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive post-anesthesia assessments and monitor patient recovery.
- Assess airway, breathing, circulation, neurological status, and level of consciousness.
- Continuously monitor vital signs, cardiac rhythm, oxygen saturation, and other clinical parameters.
- Administer medications, IV fluids, pain management, and other prescribed treatments.
- Manage post-operative pain, nausea, and other recovery-related symptoms.
- Recognize and respond promptly to airway complications, hemodynamic instability, and other emergencies.
- Assist anesthesia providers and surgical teams with post-procedure care.
- Monitor patients following general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care.
- Provide patient and family education regarding recovery and discharge instructions.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the EMR.
- Provide safe handoff communication during patient transfers.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
- Follow infection prevention, HIPAA, patient safety, and perioperative protocols.
Required Qualifications:
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- ADN or BSN from an accredited nursing program.
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required.
- Minimum 1 year of recent PACU, perioperative, ICU, or critical care nursing experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of post-anesthesia assessment, airway management, pain management, and patient monitoring.
- Excellent clinical judgment, critical-thinking, communication, and organizational skills.
- Experience with EMR systems preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- BSN preferred.
- Previous PACU or ambulatory surgery experience.
- Experience caring for patients following a variety of surgical procedures.
- Experience with airway management, moderate/deep sedation, and hemodynamic monitoring.
- CPAN or CAPA certification preferred.
- PALS certification preferred for applicable patient populations.
- Ability to respond quickly and effectively to changes in patient condition.

Pay Rate
$62.75 - $67.63/hour
