Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to assist pharmacists in preparing, dispensing, and managing medications while ensuring accuracy, safety, and compliance with pharmacy regulations. The Pharmacy Technician will support daily pharmacy operations and provide excellent customer service in a hospital, retail, or outpatient setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, package, label, and dispense medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Receive and process prescription orders accurately.
- Maintain medication inventory, stock supplies, and monitor expiration dates.
- Prepare sterile and non-sterile compounded medications when required and permitted.
- Process prescription refills and medication requests.
- Assist with medication reconciliation and documentation.
- Operate pharmacy dispensing systems and maintain accurate records in the pharmacy information system.
- Provide courteous assistance to patients and healthcare providers regarding prescription status and pharmacy services.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations, infection prevention protocols, and pharmacy safety standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and secure pharmacy work environment.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education activities.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Completion of a Pharmacy Technician training program preferred.
- Active Pharmacy Technician registration or license in the state of practice, where required.
- National Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB or ExCPT) preferred or required based on facility requirements.
- Minimum 1 year of recent pharmacy technician experience preferred.
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical terminology, medication preparation, dosage calculations, and inventory management.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational, and communication skills.
- Experience with pharmacy management software and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred.
Pay Rate
$29.98 - $34.86/hour
