Position Summary:

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Occupational Therapist (OT) – Inpatient to provide comprehensive occupational therapy services to hospitalized patients recovering from illness, injury, surgery, or neurological conditions. The Occupational Therapist will evaluate functional abilities, develop individualized treatment plans, and help patients regain independence in activities of daily living (ADLs) while collaborating with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to support safe discharge planning.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate patients' physical, cognitive, sensory, and functional abilities
  • Develop and implement individualized occupational therapy treatment plans
  • Provide therapeutic interventions to improve activities of daily living (ADLs), upper extremity function, fine motor skills, coordination, balance, and mobility
  • Assess and recommend adaptive equipment, splints, and assistive devices
  • Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans as needed
  • Educate patients and caregivers on home exercise programs, energy conservation techniques, and safe functional mobility
  • Participate in discharge planning and recommend appropriate post-acute rehabilitation services
  • Document evaluations, treatment sessions, progress notes, and discharge summaries in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, physical therapists, speech-language pathologists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals
  • Ensure compliance with infection prevention protocols, HIPAA regulations, patient safety standards, and facility policies
  • Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, quality improvement initiatives, and continuing education activities

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's or Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program
  • Active, unrestricted Occupational Therapist (OT) license in the state of practice
  • Current NBCOT certification required where applicable
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Minimum 1 year of recent inpatient or acute care occupational therapy experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of rehabilitation principles, patient assessment, adaptive equipment, and discharge planning
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in acute care hospitals, inpatient rehabilitation, trauma, neurological, orthopedic, or surgical units
  • Previous travel or contract therapy experience preferred
  • Experience treating orthopedic, neurological, cardiac, and post-surgical patient populations
  • Specialty certifications in geriatrics, hand therapy, neurological rehabilitation, or acute care preferred
  • Strong teamwork, adaptability, and patient-centered care skills

Pay Rate
$64.28 - $69.16/hour
