Position Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Orthopedic Surgical Technologist to assist surgeons and the surgical team during orthopedic procedures. The Surgical Technologist will prepare the operating room, maintain a sterile environment, manage surgical instruments and implants, and support safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care throughout the perioperative process.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and organize the operating room with sterile instruments, equipment, implants, and supplies for orthopedic procedures
Assist surgeons during orthopedic surgeries by anticipating surgical needs and passing instruments, implants, and supplies
Maintain sterile technique and ensure compliance with aseptic standards throughout surgical procedures
Perform surgical counts of instruments, sponges, needles, and supplies before, during, and after procedures
Prepare and handle orthopedic implants, power equipment, drills, saws, and specialized instrumentation
Assist with patient positioning, skin preparation, draping, and application of tourniquets as directed
Inspect, clean, and maintain surgical instruments and equipment before and after procedures
Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, registered nurses, and other perioperative staff to ensure efficient surgical workflow
Document surgical supplies, implants, specimens, and procedural information accurately
Adhere to infection prevention protocols, patient safety standards, HIPAA regulations, and operating room policies
Participate in emergency procedures and maintain readiness for urgent orthopedic cases
Support quality improvement initiatives and maintain a clean, organized operating room environment

Required Qualifications:

Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program
Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification preferred or required based on facility requirements
Current BLS/CPR certification required
Minimum 1 year of recent orthopedic surgical technology experience preferred
Strong knowledge of orthopedic surgical procedures, sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, implants, and operating room practices
Experience with orthopedic power tools, drills, saws, and fixation devices
Excellent communication, organizational, and critical-thinking skills
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced operating room environment
Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred
Commitment to delivering safe, high-quality, patient-centered surgical care
