Position Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) for the Orthopedic/Neuro Unit to provide high-quality nursing care for patients recovering from orthopedic surgeries, neurological conditions, trauma, and spinal disorders. The RN will assess patients, develop individualized care plans, administer treatments, monitor recovery, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to promote optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and develop individualized care plans for orthopedic and neurological patients
- Monitor patient conditions, including neurological status, pain levels, mobility, and post-operative recovery
- Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and prescribed treatments in accordance with physician orders
- Provide care for patients recovering from joint replacements, fractures, spinal surgeries, strokes, traumatic brain injuries, and other neurological conditions
- Conduct frequent neurovascular and neurological assessments and promptly report significant changes
- Assist patients with mobility, ambulation, fall prevention, and rehabilitation activities
- Educate patients and families on diagnoses, medications, post-operative care, rehabilitation, and discharge instructions
- Collaborate with physicians, physical therapists, occupational therapists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
- Assist with admissions, transfers, discharges, and discharge planning
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention protocols, HIPAA regulations, patient safety standards, and facility policies
- Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, quality improvement initiatives, and patient education programs
Required Qualifications:
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
- Graduate of an accredited Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program
- Current BLS/CPR certification required
- ACLS certification preferred or required based on assignment
- Minimum 1 year of recent Orthopedic, Neuro, Medical-Surgical, or Acute Care RN experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of orthopedic and neurological nursing care, post-operative management, pain control, neurovascular assessments, and rehabilitation principles
- Excellent communication, critical-thinking, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced acute care environment
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred
