Position Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – Orthopedic Medical-Surgical to provide high-quality nursing care to patients recovering from orthopedic surgeries, fractures, joint replacements, trauma, and other medical-surgical conditions. The RN will assess patient needs, administer treatments, monitor recovery, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to promote safe, effective, and patient-centered care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized nursing care plans
- Provide nursing care for patients recovering from orthopedic surgeries, fractures, joint replacements, spinal procedures, and medical-surgical conditions
- Monitor patient status, pain levels, neurovascular function, wound healing, and mobility
- Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and other prescribed treatments
- Perform wound care, dressing changes, and post-operative monitoring
- Assist patients with mobility, ambulation, transfers, and fall prevention strategies
- Educate patients and families on medications, rehabilitation, mobility precautions, pain management, and discharge instructions
- Collaborate with physicians, physical therapists, occupational therapists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
- Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and emergency situations
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention protocols, HIPAA regulations, patient safety standards, and facility policies
- Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and quality improvement initiatives
Required Qualifications:
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
- Graduate of an accredited Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program
- Current BLS/CPR certification required
- ACLS certification preferred or required based on assignment
- Minimum 1 year of recent Orthopedic, Medical-Surgical, or Acute Care RN experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of post-operative orthopedic care, pain management, neurovascular assessments, wound care, and rehabilitation principles
- Excellent communication, critical-thinking, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced acute care environment
