Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced OR Scrub Technician to provide surgical scrub support during operative procedures. The technician will prepare instruments and supplies, maintain the sterile field, anticipate the needs of the surgical team, and support safe and efficient patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare the operating room, instruments, equipment, and supplies for scheduled procedures.
- Perform surgical scrub and maintain strict sterile technique throughout procedures.
- Pass instruments, sutures, sponges, and other supplies to the surgeon and surgical team.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and assist with efficient surgical workflow.
- Assist with patient positioning, skin preparation, and sterile draping.
- Perform accurate counts of instruments, sponges, sharps, and other surgical items.
- Handle and prepare specimens according to established procedures.
- Operate and assist with surgical equipment as appropriate.
- Identify and immediately report breaks in sterile technique.
- Assist with room turnover, cleaning, and preparation for subsequent procedures.
- Maintain adequate surgical supplies and ensure instruments are properly available for each case.
- Follow infection prevention, surgical safety, HIPAA, and organizational policies.
- Collaborate with surgeons, RNs, anesthesia providers, and other surgical team members.
Required Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program preferred.
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification preferred/required based on assignment requirements.
- Current BLS certification required.
- Minimum 1 year of recent OR/Scrub Tech experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of surgical instruments, procedures, sterile technique, and infection prevention.
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to remain focused and effective in a fast-paced operating room.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with general, orthopedic, vascular, cardiovascular, gynecologic, ENT, or other surgical specialties.
- Experience with complex and emergency surgical procedures.
- Strong knowledge of surgical instrumentation and equipment.
- Previous hospital operating room experience.
- Ability to anticipate surgeon needs and work effectively under pressure.
- Commitment to patient safety and high-quality surgical care.
Pay Rate
$49.03 - $53.91/hour
