Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) to provide comprehensive perioperative nursing care before, during, and after surgical procedures. The OR RN will ensure patient safety, maintain a sterile environment, and collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, and the interdisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, patient-centered surgical care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform preoperative patient assessments and verify patient identity, surgical site, and informed consent.
- Serve as the circulating nurse and/or scrub nurse based on competency and facility requirements.
- Prepare and maintain sterile fields, surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies.
- Monitor patient condition throughout surgical procedures and advocate for patient safety.
- Administer medications, IV therapies, and blood products as prescribed.
- Assist with patient positioning, skin preparation, specimen handling, and surgical counts.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, surgical technologists, and PACU staff to ensure efficient surgical workflow.
- Recognize and respond promptly to intraoperative emergencies and changes in patient condition.
- Maintain accurate perioperative documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Ensure compliance with AORN standards, infection prevention protocols, HIPAA regulations, patient safety standards, and facility policies.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education activities.
Required Qualifications:
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Graduate of an accredited Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program.
- Current BLS certification required.
- Current ACLS certification required.
- Minimum 1 year of recent Operating Room nursing experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of perioperative nursing, sterile technique, surgical procedures, instrumentation, and patient safety practices.
- Excellent communication, critical-thinking, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred.
Pay Rate
$71.90 - $76.78/hour
