Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse (RN) – Operating Room (OR) to provide safe, high-quality perioperative nursing care before, during, and after surgical procedures. The OR RN will collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, surgical technologists, and the perioperative team to ensure patient safety, maintain a sterile environment, and achieve optimal surgical outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct preoperative patient assessments and verify patient identity, surgical site, and procedure.
- Prepare the operating room with appropriate instruments, equipment, and surgical supplies.
- Function as the circulating nurse and assist with scrub duties when qualified and required.
- Maintain sterile technique and ensure adherence to aseptic practices throughout surgical procedures.
- Monitor patient condition during surgery and respond promptly to changes.
- Administer medications, IV fluids, blood products, and other prescribed treatments.
- Assist with patient positioning, specimen handling, and accurate surgical counts of instruments, sponges, and sharps.
- Coordinate care with surgeons, anesthesiologists, surgical technologists, and recovery room staff.
- Document perioperative care accurately in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Ensure compliance with AORN standards, infection prevention protocols, HIPAA regulations, and patient safety policies.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education activities.
Required Qualifications:
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Graduate of an accredited Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program.
- Current BLS certification required.
- Current ACLS certification required or preferred based on facility requirements.
- Minimum 1–2 years of recent Operating Room nursing experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of perioperative nursing, sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, and patient safety.
- Excellent communication, critical-thinking, organizational, and teamwork skills.
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred.
Pay Rate
$56.66 - $61.53/hour
