Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – Operating Room / Circulator to provide comprehensive perioperative nursing care in the operating room. The Circulator RN will coordinate patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures, maintain a safe and sterile environment, and collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and the surgical team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess patients and develop individualized perioperative care plans
- Prepare operating rooms, equipment, instruments, and supplies for surgical procedures
- Serve as the circulating nurse during surgical procedures, ensuring patient safety and adherence to sterile technique
- Verify patient identity, surgical site, and procedure according to established safety protocols
- Coordinate surgical workflow and communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary surgical team
- Administer medications, IV therapies, and blood products as prescribed
- Monitor patient status throughout surgical procedures and respond to changes in condition
- Perform and verify surgical counts with the surgical technologist
- Document perioperative care accurately in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention protocols, HIPAA regulations, patient safety standards, and facility policies
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education activities
Required Qualifications:
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
- Graduate of an accredited Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program
- Current BLS certification required
- ACLS certification preferred or required based on assignment
- Minimum 1 year of recent Operating Room circulating experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of perioperative nursing, sterile technique, surgical procedures, and patient safety
- Excellent communication, critical-thinking, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred
Preferred Qualifications:
- BSN preferred
- CNOR certification preferred
- Experience in multiple surgical specialties, including general surgery, orthopedics, neurosurgery, cardiovascular, or robotics
- Previous travel or contract nursing experience preferred
- Strong teamwork, adaptability, and attention to detail
- Ability to take call, work weekends, holidays, and flexible shifts as required
Pay Rate
$68.09 - $72.97/hour
