Position Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Oncology Infusion Nurse (RN) to provide specialized nursing care for oncology patients receiving chemotherapy, immunotherapy, blood products, and other infusion therapies. The Oncology Infusion Nurse will assess patients, administer treatments safely, monitor for adverse reactions, educate patients and families, and collaborate with the oncology care team to deliver exceptional patient-centered care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess patients prior to infusion treatments and evaluate treatment readiness
- Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, biotherapy, targeted therapies, blood products, hydration, and supportive infusions according to physician orders and established protocols
- Access and maintain central venous access devices, including PICC lines, ports, and central venous catheters
- Monitor patients during and after infusions for adverse reactions and respond appropriately to emergencies
- Administer medications, IV fluids, and supportive therapies as prescribed
- Educate patients and caregivers on treatment plans, medications, potential side effects, symptom management, and home care instructions
- Coordinate patient care with oncologists, pharmacists, advanced practice providers, and other members of the interdisciplinary team
- Maintain accurate documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
- Ensure compliance with chemotherapy safety standards, infection prevention protocols, HIPAA regulations, and facility policies
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, patient safety programs, and continuing education activities
Required Qualifications:
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
- Graduate of an accredited Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program
- Current BLS certification required
- Current ONS Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy Provider Card required or obtained within the required timeframe
- Minimum 1–2 years of recent oncology infusion or oncology nursing experience preferred
- Experience administering chemotherapy, immunotherapy, biologic agents, and blood products
- Knowledge of central venous access devices, infusion therapy, oncology medications, and management of infusion reactions
- Excellent communication, critical-thinking, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN®) certification preferred
- Experience in outpatient infusion centers, oncology clinics, or hospital oncology units
- Chemotherapy and biotherapy administration experience
- Previous travel or contract nursing experience preferred
- Strong teamwork, adaptability, and commitment to compassionate, patient-centered oncology care
Pay Rate
$66.57 - $71.44/hour
