Position Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Registered Nurse (RN) – Observation Unit to provide high-quality care for patients requiring short-term monitoring, evaluation, and treatment. The RN will assess patient conditions, administer medications and treatments, monitor clinical progress, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure safe, efficient patient care and timely discharge or admission.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized nursing care plans
- Monitor patients requiring short-term observation for medical, surgical, or cardiac conditions
- Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and prescribed treatments
- Monitor vital signs, laboratory results, telemetry (if applicable), and patient responses to treatment
- Identify changes in patient condition and communicate findings promptly to the healthcare team
- Coordinate patient admissions, transfers, and discharges
- Educate patients and families on diagnoses, medications, discharge instructions, and follow-up care
- Maintain accurate documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
- Collaborate with physicians, case managers, therapists, and other healthcare professionals
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention protocols, HIPAA regulations, patient safety standards, and facility policies
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education activities
Required Qualifications:
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
- Graduate of an accredited Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program
- Current BLS certification required
- ACLS certification preferred or required based on assignment
- Minimum 1 year of recent Observation Unit, Medical-Surgical, Telemetry, Emergency Department, or Acute Care nursing experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of patient assessment, medication administration, and clinical monitoring
- Excellent communication, critical-thinking, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred
Pay Rate
$52.85 - $57.72/hour
