NICU Respiratory Therapist
Position Summary
We are seeking a Respiratory Therapist to provide specialized respiratory care to newborns and critically ill infants in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The therapist will manage respiratory treatments, monitor patients, and support ventilatory needs in collaboration with the healthcare team.
Responsibilities
- Assess and monitor respiratory status of neonates and infants.
- Provide oxygen therapy and respiratory treatments as ordered.
- Manage and monitor mechanical ventilation and other respiratory support.
- Assist with airway management and emergency respiratory interventions.
- Perform respiratory procedures, including suctioning and blood gas collection as applicable.
- Monitor ventilator settings, oxygen levels, and patient response.
- Recognize changes in respiratory condition and respond promptly.
- Educate and support parents and caregivers regarding respiratory care.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
- Follow infection control, safety, and NICU standards of care.
Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited program.
- Current Respiratory Therapist license as required by the state.
- RRT credential preferred or required as applicable.
- NICU or neonatal respiratory care experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of neonatal respiratory care and ventilator management.
- BLS/NRP certification as applicable.
Pay Rate
$71.90 - $76.78/hour
