Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Technician to perform laboratory testing and analysis that supports accurate diagnosis and patient care. The MT/MLT will process specimens, perform testing, maintain quality standards, operate laboratory equipment, and report results accurately and promptly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect, receive, identify, label, and process patient specimens according to established procedures.
- Perform laboratory testing in areas such as hematology, chemistry, microbiology, coagulation, and urinalysis as applicable.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment.
- Review test results for accuracy, quality, and abnormal findings.
- Perform quality control testing and document results according to laboratory standards.
- Identify and troubleshoot testing or equipment issues and notify appropriate personnel.
- Prepare specimens and reagents and maintain adequate laboratory supplies.
- Follow established laboratory procedures, safety standards, and infection prevention practices.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation.
- Communicate critical or abnormal results promptly according to established protocols.
- Participate in proficiency testing, quality improvement, and laboratory maintenance activities.
- Follow HIPAA, patient safety, regulatory, and organizational policies.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, laboratory staff, and other healthcare professionals.
Required Qualifications:
- Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or related field for MLT positions; Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology/Clinical Laboratory Science for MT positions.
- Appropriate national certification such as ASCP preferred/required based on position requirements.
- State laboratory license or certification where applicable.
- Current BLS certification preferred/required based on assignment requirements.
- Minimum 1 year of recent laboratory experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures, specimen handling, quality control, and safety practices.
- Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, organization, and communication.
- Ability to work accurately in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
- Experience with laboratory information systems (LIS) preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in hospital, reference, outpatient, or clinical laboratory settings.
- Experience across multiple laboratory departments.
- Blood bank/transfusion services experience preferred.
- Experience with automated laboratory instrumentation.
- Strong knowledge of quality assurance and regulatory standards.
- Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a laboratory team.
- Commitment to accurate, timely, and patient-focused laboratory services.
Pay Rate
$45.22 - $50.10/hour
