Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Med-Surg/Orthopedic Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive care to patients recovering from orthopedic procedures, injuries, and medical conditions. The RN will provide post-operative care, manage pain and medications, monitor patient status, support mobility, and coordinate care with the interdisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized nursing care plans.
  • Provide pre- and post-operative care for orthopedic and medical-surgical patients.
  • Monitor vital signs, pain, neurovascular status, and changes in patient condition.
  • Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and prescribed treatments.
  • Provide wound care, dressing changes, drain care, and other nursing interventions.
  • Monitor surgical sites for infection, bleeding, and other complications.
  • Assist patients with mobility, transfers, ambulation, and use of assistive devices.
  • Follow weight-bearing restrictions and fall-prevention precautions.
  • Monitor laboratory and diagnostic results and report significant changes to providers.
  • Educate patients and families regarding medications, wound care, mobility, rehabilitation, and discharge instructions.
  • Assist with admissions, transfers, procedures, and discharge planning.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the EMR.
  • Collaborate with physicians, orthopedic surgeons, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Follow infection prevention, HIPAA, patient safety, and organizational policies.

Required Qualifications:

  • Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
  • ADN or BSN from an accredited nursing program.
  • Current BLS certification required.
  • Minimum 1 year of recent Med-Surg or orthopedic nursing experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of medical-surgical and orthopedic nursing care.
  • Excellent clinical judgment, critical-thinking, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospital environment.
  • Experience with EMR systems preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BSN preferred.
  • Previous acute-care hospital experience.
  • Experience with joint replacement, spine, orthopedic trauma, and post-surgical patients.
  • Knowledge of neurovascular assessments, pain management, wound care, and mobility precautions.
  • Experience collaborating with PT/OT teams.
  • ACLS certification preferred based on patient population.
  • Commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care.

Pay Rate
$52.85 - $57.72/hour
