Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Med-Surg/Orthopedic Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive care to adult patients recovering from orthopedic procedures, injuries, and medical conditions. The RN will monitor patient status, administer medications and treatments, manage post-operative care, support mobility, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized nursing care plans.
- Provide pre- and post-operative nursing care for orthopedic patients.
- Monitor vital signs, pain levels, neurovascular status, and changes in patient condition.
- Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and prescribed treatments.
- Provide wound care, dressing changes, drain care, and other nursing interventions.
- Monitor surgical sites for signs of infection or complications.
- Assist patients with mobility, transfers, ambulation, and use of assistive devices.
- Maintain appropriate precautions for weight-bearing restrictions and fall prevention.
- Monitor laboratory and diagnostic results and report significant changes to providers.
- Educate patients and families regarding medications, mobility, wound care, rehabilitation, and discharge instructions.
- Assist with admissions, transfers, procedures, and discharge planning.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the EMR.
- Collaborate with orthopedic surgeons, physicians, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Follow infection prevention, HIPAA, patient safety, and organizational policies.
Required Qualifications:
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- ADN or BSN from an accredited nursing program.
- Current BLS certification required.
- Minimum 1 year of recent Med-Surg or orthopedic nursing experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of adult medical-surgical and orthopedic nursing care.
- Excellent clinical judgment, critical-thinking, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospital environment.
- Experience with EMR systems preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- BSN preferred.
- Previous acute-care hospital experience.
- Experience caring for orthopedic, joint replacement, spine, trauma, and post-surgical patients.
- Knowledge of neurovascular assessments, pain management, wound care, and mobility precautions.
- Experience working with PT/OT teams and coordinating rehabilitation plans.
- ACLS certification preferred based on patient population.
- Commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care.
Pay Rate
$52.85 - $57.72/hour
