Job Summary
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides basic nursing care under the supervision of registered nurses (RNs) and physicians. The LPN is responsible for monitoring patient health, administering medications, assisting with daily living activities, and ensuring patient comfort and safety across healthcare settings such as hospitals, clinics, long-term care facilities, or home care environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care, including bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility assistance
- Monitor and record vital signs (temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiration)
- Administer medications and injections as prescribed
- Assist physicians and registered nurses during examinations and procedures
- Maintain accurate and timely patient records and documentation
- Observe patients and report changes in condition to supervising RN or physician
- Perform basic wound care and dressing changes
- Collect samples for lab testing (e.g., blood, urine)
- Ensure a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for patients
- Educate patients and families on basic care and health practices
- Adhere to infection control protocols and healthcare regulations
Required Qualifications
- Diploma or certificate in Practical Nursing from an accredited institution
- Valid LPN/LVN license in the relevant state or region
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or equivalent)
- Knowledge of nursing practices, patient care standards, and medical terminology
Pay Rate
$30.64 - $35.52/hour
