LPN – Corrections | Job Description
Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) in correctional facilities provide essential nursing care to inmates while maintaining a safe and secure healthcare environment. They work closely with physicians, RNs, and correctional staff to deliver medical services, monitor patient conditions, and ensure compliance with healthcare standards.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide direct patient care to inmates in a correctional facility
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians
• Monitor and record vital signs, symptoms, and medical histories
• Assist with medical assessments and routine health screenings
• Respond to medical emergencies and provide first aid when needed
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
• Assist with intake and discharge medical evaluations for inmates
• Educate patients on health conditions, medications, and preventive care
• Follow infection control policies and correctional facility protocols
• Collaborate with healthcare teams and correctional staff to ensure patient safety
Requirements:
• Active LPN/LVN license in the state of practice
• BLS certification (American Heart Association preferred)
• Experience in corrections, behavioral health, or long-term care preferred
• Strong clinical assessment and communication skills
• Ability to work in a secure correctional environment
Pay Rate
$37.48 - $42.36/hour
