Position Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – Labor, Delivery, Recovery & Postpartum (LDRP) to provide comprehensive nursing care to mothers and newborns throughout labor, delivery, recovery, and the postpartum period. The RN will monitor maternal and fetal well-being, assist with deliveries, provide newborn care, educate families, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure safe, high-quality, patient-centered care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive nursing care throughout labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum
- Assess and monitor maternal, fetal, and newborn conditions throughout the childbirth process
- Monitor fetal heart rate patterns and maternal labor progress using electronic fetal monitoring
- Assist physicians and certified nurse midwives during vaginal and cesarean deliveries
- Administer medications, IV therapies, epidurals, blood products, and treatments as prescribed
- Provide immediate newborn assessment, stabilization, and routine neonatal care
- Support breastfeeding, newborn care education, and postpartum recovery
- Educate patients and families on labor, delivery, postpartum care, newborn care, medications, and discharge instructions
- Recognize and respond promptly to obstetric and neonatal emergencies
- Collaborate with obstetricians, pediatricians, anesthesiologists, lactation consultants, and other healthcare professionals
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention protocols, HIPAA regulations, patient safety standards, and facility policies
Required Qualifications:
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
- Graduate of an accredited Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications required
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification required or obtained per facility policy
- Minimum 1 year of recent LDRP, Labor & Delivery, or Women's Health nursing experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of obstetric, postpartum, newborn, and maternal-child nursing care
- Excellent communication, critical-thinking, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred
